Earlier this week we had the pleasure of participating in an inspiring drawing workshop, held in collaboration with the non-profit organisation Ville Veier situated in Jammerdalen and the NEB-STAR project. At Helen & Hard, drawing has long been a vital part of our practice, helping to shape what we call our relational design process. Recently we’ve been further developing drawing as a tool for inclusive urban planning at sites such as Jammerdalen and Site 4016 in Stavanger.

The drawing workshop at Ville Veier was another example of how drawing can be used to strengthen communication and understanding between us. Ville Veier is a powerful initiative rooted in the use of art-based and creative methods to strengthen mental health and prevent social exclusion among young adults. With a strong foundation in the creative disciplines of art, drama and theatre, alongside expertise in health-promoting social work, pedagogy, and psychology, Ville Veier brings together an interdisciplinary approach that bridges the health, social, and cultural fields.

Here art, culture, and creative expression are united with preventive, social, and health-promoting work. We are grateful to Ville Veier for the important work they continue to do in our neighbourhood.
