From a tired youth hostel to a dynamic student house, the Mosvangen Student Housing project saw the conversion of an aging youth hostel into fresh student apartments, comprising of adaptable and individual units.

A thorough transformation was necessary, as the dimensions of the original construction created deep, dark spaces which were far from ideal for the new function.

Modifications in the volume include the addition of an interior courtyard, and several incisions and extensions to the roofing. Elements were recycled from the building site itself as well as leftover material from local industry.
