Building a temporary meeting place at Site 4016
Towards a new aestetichs.
With NEB-STAR we are exploring how the establishment of a temporary meeting place can influence the development of Site 4016 towards a more aesthetic, inclusive and environmentally friendly direction.
Through an inclusive design process with, among others, Stavanger Urban Folkehøgskole and Jåttå videregående skole, we have tested our working method of “relational structures”. We have together created a meeting place with a new and unique aesthetic that brings together professional actors in the construction industry cluster at Site 4016 and the residents of the Hillevåg district. The construction site is part of a larger vision for Site 4016 where the construction industry’s materials, installations and resources are displayed and reused. The meeting place introduces soft, tactile and colourful surfaces on a human scale in an otherwise quite monotonous industrial area with flowing spaces.
The construction site is built as a wooden scaffolding with wooden connections. It functions also as a framework for elements created from recycled materials from the construction industry. Elements can be replaced or added and adapted to the needs of users over time.
We are looking forward to the opening of the meeting place tomorrow. Stay tuned for the finished product and opening party!
